I allways find that the Dutch legal system too soft.
Not only in this case, but in other cases too, were peeps get thrown into prison for 2 years, where in other countries you'll spend 50 years.
In this case perticular, I think 20 months PROBATION is stupid. This means he'll be thrown in jail for 20 months, IF HE DOES IT AGAIN, Sheez. But it can also be the case that the judge will give a higher penalty. Remember, the prosecution demands a very weak punishment. If it is a good judge, he'll slap at least 5 years above the demanded punishement (it has happened before, although I still find it too weak)
I can also be that the prosecution has a weak case, because of lack of evidence. In that case, the prosecution probably wants to get the highest punishment with the evidence it gots.
On the other hand, I see a trend of more criminals getting thrown into jail for live (the heighest punishment possible). And getting thrown in for live, IS untill you die (Not many peeps know that here). Technically though, because you still can get of alive, because of good behaviour.
PS: I don't hate my country, but stuff really needs to change here. But with all the damn politicians here, nothing seems to get done that has any real positive change for the country.
