I'm 57, have had cats my whole life. I worked with anmlais for years, so I did see the oozy chins, but never had one of my own cats afflicted. I moved to Fl. in '94 with 3 cats, the oldest lived to 21, one lived to 18, and my baby passed at 19 in 10/10. My husband brought home 2 Ragdolls (my baby was a Ragdoll) a year after she passed(I'm disabled, housebound, so he felt I needed cats). When they were 6 months old I noticed the black specs on their chins. Guess what type of dishes he bought when he got supplies for the new cats- plastic. I never put much stock in that theory until I had 2 cats that got this PITA condition. There is no cure, you just have to manage flare-ups. My cats HATE having anything done to them, most of all getting their chins scrubbed. If anyone knows of a new treatment, I'm all ears.
