It's no matter what it was for, but whether or not it solves the problem. If it does in fact solve the problem, the problem has no more bearing on the situation, and in effect is made null.
As a metaphor, lets use a game patch as it solves several errors in a game. Do the problems exist in gameplay still, or are the problems literally gone? Or if world peace was ever achieved, would it be logical to say that there was no peace, because there was a solution for it? I can't wrap my mind around that argument at all.
The point of the multi-quote though, is the convenience it offers. It's not impersonal at all, and if we went that route one could the whole internet was personal. Which to some extent, it really is.
However, I see the pro's and cons of both sides, and I like both sides. To say either is plain idiotic is in my mind overlooking the cons of both boards, for they certainly both have them.
