...not that I have 'my own office,' I'm in a open plan cubicle type office (i.e. cubicles, but the low type). But the office we're in (office as in the building), is soo old a crappy. The room I'm in (there's about 10 of us in this room) literally has no windows...the office in general is so badly layed out. On top of that the room I'm in has all the project managers and project services personnel, so there is continual conversations going on all the time, it can be so annoying and distracting.
They've talked about moving a number of times, late last year there was a rumour about moving into a new building (which everyone knew about, but was not official), but the move fell through due to "commercial issues" (whatever that means), far as we can tell the place we were going to be moving to was space that a company we deal with was moving out of, and now their not moving out of it...
Worst thing is that beginning of last year there was bad flooding in the Brisbane area, and the office was cut off and then not open for about 6 weeks. In that time the team I work with (about 2/3 of the office) were in another building that was leased by another contractor and made available. The building was faaantastic, the work I do (well did, have recently mostly changed roles) involved storing a lot of documents and don't have that much room in the current building, but this temporary building had plenty of room! All the project managers had their own small 'fish-bowl' type office all in a row, it was great...and then our actual office re-opened and we had to move back... For the first couple of weeks the air-con would fail every morning (welcome back!)...not that the air-con isn't usually crappy anyway, bathrooms are crappy...we've all been wishing we could move back ever since...
Anyway, good to hear you've got a new office that suits your needs :)
Who's going to clear away the bodies...that's what I want to know.
