Moving
Offices

Man, it sounds mundane when you type it out like that, but I'm incredibly excited about this big move from my old office to my new. For the past 2 1/2 years I've been in an office at work that has served its purpose well. I didn't often have people in, but when I did there was enough room for one person.
Well, then I hired an employee who likes to use my desk when she comes into my office instead of her lap. There's a long story here, but I feel it's a concession I can make, though it involves moving everything at the front of my desk to accommodate her. Then, there's the recent heat issues. In November or December they came through and changed our heating system. That means if the main lights are on in my office (which they rarely are since I abhor florescent) it gets hot FAST. And I always turn up the lights when someone comes in for a meeting. Combine that with a closed door and Woooeee it's hot.
Plus, I'm running out of space. I have a LOT of stuff to keep track of, and my office only really comfortably fits one additional person, not two or three, which means I usually get up and go to each, individual office instead of asking my team members to come into mine so we can all talk together.
So, I put in a request to move to the vacant office next to me. Declined. That was ok. It's going to be used for a project of which I was not aware. But, in the same breath that my boss declined that move, she offered me another; to the office previously occupied by our video producer (he just moved into another space so we can have a studio). I thought about it for only a few minutes before saying "Yes."
The room's JUST been painted and had all its holes filled. It's much roomier, so much so that I'll have my desk on one side, a credenza on the other, and in front enough space for a small table and two chairs for brainstorming. It's fantastic! I couldn't move the desk yesterday because they'd repaired something on it and it was drying, but I'll be in there shortly, and I couldn't be more excited!! Yes, it is the little things in life we celebrate sometimes. :D
