I'm owning a 1,200 square foot, 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath for $1,021 a month, to be completely paid off in 4 years, 2 of which have already passed. Even though there's nothing majorly wrong with it, I got this house for $36,000 which, even for this area of VA, is an "OMG how the f%$& did you pull that off?!" kind of situation, as the property value of the home was at $130,000 at the time. (My answer is always the same: "I got a really good realtor!") I never got the full story on the house, so I don't know if it was near foreclosure or anything, I just know I got a very sweet deal.
