Ha! I already tried (and Wikipedia for that matter).
Anyway, I was watching a music video from the Boomtown Rats and they mentioned a telex machine. I, of course, had no idea what this meant, so I looked it up and came to the conclusion that it was pretty much an advanced form of cabling. Fine. I get that. Makes sense. What I don't get, though, is the imagery used in the video accompanying the line from the song. The scene takes place in a household and the family appears to be sitting in front of a TV. My research into the telex said nothing about who used it and how, so I was wondering if anyone could fill in what and Wikipedia left out. Specifically: Who primarily used telex machines? (I'm thinking businesses would, as I can see no reason for home use, so the home imagery confuzzles me.) If they were commonly used in homes, what were they used for?
