You know the junk mail that comes with self-addressed stamped envelopes in them? Well, take them out, and instead of putting filled out applications and such in them, like they want you to, put other junk mail in them. Then, mail them back. You spend nothing and they have to throw out the junk mail instead of you. You'll quickly be taken off their lists. If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure nothing you send back has your name or address on it. "Stupidity is no excuse!"
