it would be more rude to stay at the table and talk on the phone, shouting to be heard too..
ideally people should probably turn off their phone when in restaurants (and definitely in cinemas) just so you dont have to hear beeping every few minutes
but still, there are worse social crimes.... i do sometimes text if im out at a restaurant or bar myself
i dont get why some people just have to use the phone no matter what they are doing, for eg like at the till, because that is very rude. but can also see their pov in a way... if its a long phone call then they wont want the bother of calling the person back.
i think it would make more sense for people to use the handsfree devices, of which there are many kinds, in the car. but the majority of people dont bother with them. maybe its cos having a phone attached to your head looks cool hehe...
