Her attitude was definitely uncalled for. If she wasn't certain (how could she be given the slightly confusing directions,) she should have left more hair, rather than cut it off. She can always cut more off if you don't like it... she can't put it back.
That's what happened when my ex-feonce (whom I shall refer to herafter as 'j') tried to get J's head shaved for summer. J had to keep saying, "no, I really meant shaved" as the barber was comulsively insisting on leaving SOME hair on J's head, since J had come in with hair down to the shoulders.
On that note, getting your hair cut for the first time by anyone new is always going to be a little strange. It'll never be quite right... but it should be damn close. Any good barber/hairdresser can follow the lines of your last haircut, and do the same style, if you give them a length referance... and it should have been apparent from the lines, that your last haircut wasn't military.
