Public schools are not allowed to teach religion (at least not one in particular) that's why it is a PUBLIC school, anyone regardless of religion can learn there, and since Creationism is based on Christian beliefs it was deemed inappropiate for public schools.
|
Creationism is not singly a Christian belief. It is a belief of Christians, Jews, and Muslims alike. There are also other religions out there besides the "Big Three" Abrahamic religions that believe in Creation. So acknowledging Creationism isn't "respecting an establishment of religion" and therefore isn't un-Constitutional.
Plus, making a simple statement that the belief exists isn't teaching religion. It's simply acknowledging it. If some law is passed that disallows the acknowledgment of religion in the public forum, I'm moving out of the country.
