Problem is (correct me if I'm wrong)
Public schools are not allowed to teach religion (at least not one in perticular) that's why it is a PUBLIC school, anyone regardless of religion can learn there, and since Creationism is based on Christian beliefs it was deemed inappropiate for public schools.

If it however was a Christian elementary school, it was no problem.
I'm here.
