CURRENT MESSAGE

i had RE classes in both primary and secondary school
(this is ireland) - when i was in primary school it was ALL about catholic religion - totally and utterly, there were even books we had to buy. We ad to learn prayers by heart as part of exams and said the creed once a week as a group. it seemed a bit much for a public school!

i think they have brought in a rule about teaching a more diverse religious scope in primary school but im not sure....

in secondary school (age 13+) we had RE classes. my first year there we had a text book which taught about different religions and after that for 5 years we were taught via photocopied pages rather than books.
It was all very basic stuff like 'a menorrah is...' 'buddhism is...' but without going deep into it, it still had a very catholic leaning cos we certainly covered that in depth.
we were brought to visit a synagogue once and that is about it.
fair play they made the effort to diversify but it was a weak effort sadly...

we had sex ed. in RE classes for some reason!
