A macbook would be uesful if you were majoring in something like film where you could use it for editing, but you probably wouldn't need it for a business major. Don't buy your computer now, although you can certainly do your research now. Many colleges offer substantial discounts on computers to their entering freshmen, so it makes sense to buy your computer through the school.
