That the guys from Winthrop Services who have the contract to provide ALL the IT services for all government schools in WA created a custom image for the iPads to fit the net-nanny/usage policies for the education dept, and to make them work on our useless SOE4 network....
In the process of this re-imaging they disabled the ability for the iPads to have the proxy turned off and not only disabled it but removed the visibility of the 'switch' in the control settings in the process, so that no one could turn it back on again!!!
It did not occur to them to actually test their changes themselves before rolling the iPads out to us....that would cost them money...
So, NO ONE, not just me, was able to use their iPads at home last night and Winthrop have been told to "fix it!" without extra charges, but they don't know how to fix it yet and it may take some time....
Ultimately it will probably mean collecting all the iPads back and re-imaging them all over again. Meanwhile we have what amounts to a fancy internet browser with a difficult to use and tiny interface. My laptop is a better option that the iPad at present...
But yes, I would assume that since they are brand spanking new out of the box, that they are running iO6....
I colour stuff...
