The Nobel Peace Prize, a symbol of the greatest human achievements in the world, has had a long a fruitful life in acknowledging those outstanding individuals whose work has pushed for the betterment of all mankind. Sadly, in 2008, the spirit of the peace prize was dealt a deadly blow when Al Gore was announced the winner, beating out an old lady who risked her life to save others during World War II because he informed the world of global warming, a phenomenon which has yet to be proven to exist.
Because such a fatal injury was dealt by the Nobel Committee, the spirit of the peace prize was put on life support and has been comatose for the past year. When it was announced that President Barak Obama had been the winner for 2009, just for planning to do something without actually having done anything at all, the spirit of the peace prize instantly died. Violently and painfully. An award dreamed up by a man wanting to give thanks to those individuals whose deeds positively pushed the boundaries of human growth has been sullied, cheapened to being nothing more than a pawn for political social status.
Grave diggers dug up the remains of Alfred Nobel and reported that they had found him to be spinning in his grave.
