It may have been one (or two) "little" hiccup(s), but one that caused more damage and trouble fixing than any other virus/spyware thingie that has passed my way in recent years. (Or which are still lurking in the shadows here somewhere ;-)) I expect updates, especially when it's for anti-virus and anti-spyware, to make a program better. The incidents I encountered made it worse.
I suppose it's a bit like with false virus warning hoaxes being mailed by friends or family. Trying to fix something that isn't broken. Brrrr. :-P
I know Ad-Aware is not exactly anti-crapware or leaning towards the "I would gladly donate all my organs to fund future versions of this software product" side of the anti-virus spectrum, but the anniversary edition at least seems to be an improvement with some extra features. Is Spybot any better?
Okay, will have another look at ZoneAlarm later on, then. A little more protection to keep harmful things away *before* they're on your computer would be nice. (Or I'll just use Ubuntu instead, but then I'll need to first fix the built in wireless adapter thingie to actually work. :-P)
Yes I know AVG does the e-mail client scan thingie. Recently started using Thunderbird. But that has more to do with some personal things here I won't go into here now. Will have a look if there are any ways of getting that to work with Avira (or something else).
Still, often I just use my gmail account via https instead.
If I have time, I'll have a look at some online spyware scanner thingies to see where there's room for immediate improvement.
There are FOUR brain cells!
