hmm... well (and this may come down to accents etc), i would pronounce "bery" and "berry" differently. Bery: i would pronounce with the sound like in "stir". Berry: i would pronounce like in "bear".

Well i might almost agree with you here. Though i hate the look of capitals in the middle of words (MoRoNiC pM nAmEs AnD sTuFf). But it does make some sense (except your last example, cause damn is a shortened version of damnation)
