Actually, there is a scriptural basis for rejecting evolution in a doctrinal matter. Death before sin - and having it called good - negates a need for Christ, for if we were made to die, and it was good... why should we have a need to be saved from it?
I will also say though that since evolution could never be scientifically proved or disproved, it is just as bogus as a intelligent design theory. It has no facts, it has evidence, and evidence can be interpreted several different ways, and makes one place faith in their own views.
