Batman Begins is a typical superhero origins story told with flair and imagination. It doesn't do much that is new or radical...
Trying (quite pathetically, I agree) to give Brucey a love interest was kinda flairish, and having him trained by the League of Shadows was definitely radical, because those who are familiar with Batman know that he never got his trining from them, so to say that he did was a huge pill to swallow (for me, at least). But once I was able to get past that major change, I was able to enjoy the movie.
Also noticably (and thankfully) absent in this movie are the campy and fetishist elements that marked the latter Batman movies.
Thank God! That's one portrayal of the Dark Knight I never want to see again!
If there is a criticism of the acting, it is that there is very little chemistry between Katie Holmes and Christian Bale. I never once believed these two were in love.
Again, total agreement.
Here's hoping that if Christopher Nolan gets to go ahead and make the triology he envisioned, that those movies are just as good as this one. If they are, they will be well worth waiting for.

Like Spider-Man 3.
