I go to phpBB board, and really the problems you noted don't really exist on a well kept board. Linking to a specific post in a thread for instance is done by clicking the number link on the side of the post, which keeps the posts specific URL. To keep from misunderstandings all one has to do is utilize the "quote" button, and it'll quote the person you're replying to and his name, and the date their post was made, along with the time. Not to mention some now have a multiple quote feature. Also, if you keep your temporary internet files around, loading pics after the first load of a page is really non-existent. It's really just a matter of what you're used to, and everyone here has been used to a board that hadn't really changed for around ten years.

However, I like both formats.
