"Most of America doesn't make a distinction beteewn and the Toys R Us winners and you or me (a sansei), especially in times of heightened economic competition or global conflict."Is that ever a prejudiced statement! Do you know most Americans? From the polls conducted around the time of the immigration brouhaha last fall it was quite clear that "most Americans" do distinguish beteewn those who come in through the legal door and those who sneak in. Those Americans who look at immigrants and want to "send them all back" are mostly looking at Mexicans (which is unfair since illegal aliens do come from all over the globe).Being married to a legal resident alien I feel for those who waited for years and years to come here legaly only to have the stability of their lives and credibility of their residency questioned because of the one who jump the line and sneak in.I appreciated Mama Nabi's input as well, we really don't know what the mother's immigration status is- she could be here legally though not a legal resident.
