I'm slightly cofsnued as to how one makes an 'inadvertent' classic. Is your theory that Proyas was trying to make a piece of pop entertainment and accidentally created something that transcended his intent? My opinion of Proyas is that he pours a lot of himself into everything he makes. Dark City is visually spectacular and is even an official Roger Ebert approved Great Movie. I, Robot was bad, but was not entirely without ambition. My feeling is that Proyas was trying to create just what he made with The Crow, though clearly he did not plan Brandon Lee's death and the resulting Goth Cred.
