Addendum: Of course, there's also a dgreee of irony at play here given that the means of producing the materiality of _Lightning In the Bottle_'s world relies not only on material props and the human body, but also the manipulation of those props through highly advanced, seemingly dematerialized software. But even there, again, the connection between the material and the immaterial is immanent.Second addendum: The pleasure we take in the Teslapunk aesthetic of this film is akin to Baudrillard's hyperreal: the fact that nostalgia allows us to see it primarily as an aesthetic indicates that the age from which it originates is dead.
