Nikola Tesla invented such lightbulbs back in around 1890. He even came up with neon fluorescent lights. Edison was jealous but came across as more credible, so he won. Kind of like VHS, V2000 and Betamax videosystems. VHS is far inferior, but it was cheaper and more readily available. Like how Philips pushes itself out of the videorecording market by asking royalties off of everything to do with Philips recording technology, so did Nikola Tesla push himself out of the market. Except Nikola did it by being too smart and taking on too ambitious projects. Not because he couldn't do it - he made things work - but because people had no idea what the hell he was on about.
