I think there have been times in history when the zesigeitt was something approaching the Holy Spirit filling the Body of Christ in the world. (Or translated into secular-speak as best I can: when enough people aim to think the thoughts of God and to will the will of God love and creativity, compassion, justice, and fellowship God's presence has been among us more strongly and these have been the Golden Ages of history. And the Golden Ages I suspect are attainable whenever the culture as a whole is filled with hope, dedicated to kindness, pursuing of knowledge whether or not there was any explicit recognition of God. So I think I'd hold open the possibility that the zesigeitt can be the proxy / imprint of a real being's actual will (it wouldn't even have to be a supernatural being; take Hitler and Stalin and other charismatic leaders for example). I might say the zesigeitt reflects the will of someone/something that may at times be external to the group affected, and that it shapes the will and perception of those in the culture. That's not exactly the same thing as demon possession (on the negative) or having the Holy Spirit (on the positive), even if we were to posit that the implanted ideas / will / attitude is from such a being. Btw, JA, yes: Jesus rose from the dead. All the ancient records by anyone with any direct knowledge of his post-crucifixion state are in agreement on that point. If it were any *other* incident/type of incident with that many mentions by that many documents that soon after the event, we'd consider it beyond rational dispute. I'm aware of the mind-boggling aspect of Jesus' resurrection. Then again, if it were ordinary or irrelevant, it could hardly change our worldview, ey? Take care & God blessAnne / WF
