The list above, while it covers most of the sapluittions and criteria required for permitted development rights for air source heat pumps, misses the major requirement, noise. The air source installation needs to meet the MCS020 Planning Standards, in which it is required that the noise level must be below 42dB(a) at a position one metre external to the centre point of any door or window to a habitable room of a neighbouring property as measured perpendicular to the plane of the door or window. Most air source cannot currently meet this and hence unless you have no neighbours, you are still required to obtain planning permission.
