To many big companies, it's firaly to say that they, including McDonald, are able to abosrb the increaed cost subsequent to the implementation of min wage. I'm working for a branch office of a public-listed US compnay in which 99% of our staff are earning over what the min wage is likely to be (e.g. HKD7K - 8K a month). But, this may not be a good news to many SME (like 茶é¤å»³, street newstands)It is true that some people may get a higher wage, but I hate to miss the following beneficiaries: 1.Labour Dept will expand their bureaucratic structure by employing more civil servant to enforce this law to prevent 走法律罅2.Many lawyers will benefit surely on the face of increasing cases because many employer entertains ä¸åœ‹äººå¿ƒæ…‹ èµ°ç²¾é¢ è˜èµ°ä½ 走法律罅 3. Many NGO, with government grant, is to be set up to fight for the cause of labour. 4. Many scholars will obtain more grant to "research" this issue. With the execution level of our civil servant, this law will end up ç¡¬è† çš„å¾Œæžœ for Hong Kong just whatæž—å¿Œ mentioned.
