Urticaria, or hives is a vascular rtceaion of this skin is caused my an allergen. Urticaria is a very common condition that affects 15%-25% of the population. Hives is a smooth raised red or pink rash. There are many, many causes of hives which sometimes remain unknown. It is diagnoses by visual examination and is treated with corticosteroids, antihistmanines, and calamine lotion applied topically.Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that is characterized by scaling and inflammation. Psoriasis affects about 2%-3% of the population worldwide and occurs in all age groups and equally in men and women. Psoriasis is cause by skin cells that multiply up to 10 times faster than normal. The volume of excess skin cells causes raised, red patches covered with white scales. Diagnosis is based to visual examination as well as a possible biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. There is no cure for psoriasis, nor is it preventable. There are three forms of treatment: topical or external, phototherapy or systemic drugs.
