This module was tough to say the least. I tuhghot it would be the most interesting of all to me and yet it was the most difficult to get through. The picture alone are so informative yet shocking. One of the diseases covered I found interesting was eczema. I have heard of this a lot in the health care field but never saw it quite as the book and the photo describe it. Eczema or atopic dermatitis is the most common skin disease. It affects 10-15% of children. The good this is that it usually goes away by the time these children reach their teenage years. The etiology of eczema is unknown, but those who have it usually have allergy disorders as well.I liked learning about all of the medical terms for bumps and red spots that I have. Liek a vesicle is a blister. I just got one of these on my toe at work yesterday from a new pair of shoes. I have a few papules or pimples in the T area on my face, and I have an occasional macule or freckles as well. These come out a lot more when I spend a lot of time in the sun.Another thing that I learned was that third degree burns do not hurt. I found this very interesting. It took a minute to really think about it to understand. With a third degree burn the nerve endings are destroyed and therefore it is not painful. So why do those who suffer traumatic burns experience excruciating pain? This I asked myself, then realized that not all of the burn is third degree. For example the picture on pg 462 of our book, that person has third degree burns but also first and second as well and those are the ones that cause so much pain. This is one of my biggest fears and always has been.
