Ex-pat German piping up: When I first moved to the US I was costnatnly told that I dressed too conservative and too revealing (often about the same ensemble and by the same person). While working for an English Prep School graduate I had the benefit of learning that I essentially dressed exactly like he would, were he female. Out of that experience comes this one and only piece of advise for the person going to Europe: Wear what makes you comfortable and happy and don't worry about being over or under dressed. Business casual is still business casual, casual is casual, formal is formal and people are people and will find something to be upset about. Be you and have fun :D
