So, yesterday, 10/04, was my due date. My eldest, TJ, decided it was time to arrive on 09/06, which forced my youngest, Levi, out of the womb. TJ was ready to be born. Levi wasn't. He spent 2 days in the nursery at the hospital, then 10 days at a Level IV NICU where we couldn't touch him half the time, and I only got to hold him the day before he came home. It was so overwhelming, to hold him for the first time since his birthday. I bawled my eyes out.
They were 36 weekers, and TJ was abnormally developed, while Levi was typically behind. But, it was heart-breaking to go home with one and not the other. The bills are coming in, and my hubby's still out of work (the job that came together fell through on their end due to poor management... and now we've decided he should be Mr. Mom for various reasons that make a lot of sense for us financially and emotionally), and there's a lot of stress and fear.
But there are also two precious boys to love.
TJ born 09/06 at 7:09AM at 5lb14oz
Levi born 09/06 at 7:18AM at 6lb5oz
TJ is now over 8lbs, and Levi is around 7lbs. They're growing well and learning and so developmentally ahead for their gestational age. Last week we put them both down for tummy time, and without us showing them anything they both started kicking their legs and arms and trying to CRAWL. TJ was pulling on his play mat trying to pull himself forward, and Levi worked himself in a half circle with his efforts. They also already roll from their backs to their sides. TJ almost made it to his tummy last week. Matthew and I were freaking out a little about that one. We're not ready for rolly polly babies!
Tomorrow they will be a month old. They are such a treasure to us. I only have four more weeks home with them (boo), but I take comfort in knowing Matthew will be here with them while I'm at work, and I'll get to come home to their adorable faces, and while he's in school 9 hours on the weekend days, I'll have them. So, I won't miss out TOO much. I'm just sad our finances aren't such that I could go part-time, as I'd dreamt of doing when we had babies.
Here's one of my FAVORITE photos of the boys taken last night. TJ is the dreaming one. Levi's the awake one who took his brother's hand. They are incredible, my baby boys!
