I thought sess's post did have to do with sex...
since the older version of the term has to do with "sexual pleasure derived from pain, both in oneself or others" or at least, that's what I thought the term meant, since the term 'sadist' roots lie with Marquis de Sade who wrote basically hardcore "erotic" stories featuring torture.
