What do you name a post that's all about the board?
Since we're at a bit of a standstill, how about tell me your FAV show? Then, try to tell US why WE should give it a chance....
For me, it's Chuck, a show that may not last to get a third season. Breaks my heart really. I just got into the show about seven episodes ago, and hurried to catch up on everything I'd missed. Now I'm hooked.
Chuck (our main character) works at a Best Buy-style store in the "Nerd Herd" division fixing computers and such. When his old college buddy sends him a program it gets in his head and he becomes a human computer with all of the NSA and CIA's combined spy secrets. So, he gets handlers in the form of a CIA hottie named "Sarah Walker" who pretends to be his girlfriend and an NSA agent Major John Casey, played by Adam Baldwin of Firefly fame.
Chuck features many Star Trek and other Sci-Fi alums in various roles. Bruce Boxleitner as Awesome's Dad, Six from BSG as a CIA agent, Scott Bakula as a really pivotal role this season which I will not give away for people who do not know.
The actors are hilarious, but the writing is FANTASTIC. Is every episode a gem? Nah, but I've yet to find one I walked away HATING or even depressed about. I find something to like it every episode.
The continuity with the writing is fantastic. Things lead somewhere. There's a goal. There's something in mind. They aren't just flying by the seat of their pants.
And, guess who the supervising producer of the series is? Robert Duncan McNeil. That's right! Tom Paris! He's also such a fantastic director that I can spot his style on an episode even if I missed the credits saying it was him. Such a pleasure to watch.
If you're going to get into this show, start with season 2. The first 6 episodes of Season 1 are mediocre. You can tell they weren't sure about a lot of things, but come episode 9 and it was ON. From then on, it's been FANTASTIC. The holiday episodes are always a blast, and it's just a lot of fun.
Seriously, you should give it a chance....
