Raisa's in a similar position...contractor and a project manager for Oracle.
Raisa was first offered a 12 month extension to her existing contract, then 6 months and now it's 3 months now that her current contract is about to expire next week. Then they'll review.
Meanwhile a guy in her group (but not on her immediate team) has been given the boot for incompetance in general and she's had to pick up the slack of his stuff ups and general inability. In 1.5 weeks she's caught that team up to about 2 weeks behind where they're meant to be, when before they were about 3 months behind (so the PTB reckoned) so everyone's quite happy with her right now.
If she'd stayed at her original job (ASG Group) that she was at before we went to Italy, then she'd have been made redundant ages ago, so the switch to Oracle last October was a good idea, (plus it pays a bucket load more than ASG did so we've made up over a year's money in 6 months!)
But still, anything can happen....
This is why me getting permancy (tenure) at school was such a coup last year. It guarantees me a job *somewhere* within the Edu Dept., there's still a shirtage of teachers overall, and there's always going to be kids to teach. Plus private schools here at experienced a 45% drop in enrolments since last year - and where tdo they go? Yep gov't schools!!!
I colour stuff...
