House Hunting Can Give You Ulcers
So, I can't live in my house much longer. That's not me being annoying or complaining... During our house inspection a week and a half ago (we rent. Inspections are normal), the inspectors told me my house is retaining water and that's why the bricks in the front have an inch separation and why there is rust all around some of the outdoor vents.... Last week my doctor issued an epi-pen for me due to my mold allergies... see the connection?

So, Matthew and I are officially looking at "the market" and it is INTIMIDATING stuff. We don't have a whole lot for a down payment... about $8,000, which in the world of real estate, isn't a whole lot. There've just been so many things happening... Like Matt's car issues, my health issues, Christmas and birthdays and just a lot of mess. So, we're looking to buy.

We've found a home we abso-adore, but it's about $222,000 on the market. We're hoping they'll be willing to go down to $200,000 with how soft the market is. If we stay at the current rate, it's going to be about $1,700 a month. However, if we can talk them down and put a $5,000 down payment in, we can get the monthly cost down to $1,300. That $400 makes a HUGE difference for us in terms of affordability.

I worked out the budget for the next year and we can do this if it's $1,700, but that's cutting out anything extra... No vacations. No time away from the state... Nothing like that, and that burns... especially since we were trying to plan a trip out of country this coming year to make up for how much we've been strapped to the homestead in recent years...

We currently pay $925 for rent for a three-bedroom brick ranch. That's not bad at ALL, but with all the problems this house has, and how they add to my medical issues, it's time to get out.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we go through all of this! On the onehand, having a mortgage as a tax write-off is mundo exciting, as rent is NOT tax write-offable... But it's a LOT to take on for us... I only used my main income in the factoring of my budget and it will be TIGHT if my secondary job doesn't keep as awesome as it's been of late....

Anyway, tmra is Matthew's 27th, so I gotta few last minute things to finish up. Yes, the presents are wrapped, as are his extra Christmas gifts (he got the main one, a Winter coat, already). Love and kisses. :)
