CURRENT MESSAGE

Currently typing from Alatar
First, before the naming convention started, there was Irwin Ilúvatar.
okay, so I made that up. the old pentium was just named Irwin with no Tolkien references.

Then my dad got Radagast, the 400MHz celeron laptop, which eventually was passed on to me.
When he got Gandalf, a 1.4GHz Athlon. I called its Win98 partition Saruman.
I later upgraded to Alatar the Blue, my current 2.4GHz p4.
My laptop is named Gwaihir, a great eagle (and probably of the Maiar) on the wing.

When Gandalf was defeated by the motherboard balrogs, my dad got Orthanc
and soon after got Tinuviel for my mom.

waitaminute... Orthanc's a building, and Tinuviel's an elf.

Well, I suppose Orthanc was the dwelling place of one of the Istari, and Tinuviel was the daughter of Melian, and Melian was a Maia, like the wizards were.

But my dad's laptop, Glorfindel? This Noldo has no kinship with the Maiar at all!
Well, I suppose the Noldor were taught much by Aulë of the Valar when they were in Aman.

*sigh* still our naming convention slipped from names of Istari to names of Maiar in general and now just to names from Arda

...which happens to be the name of our wireless network, routed by Rivendell, our WRT54GS
