Well, after speaking with HP support (Yay! Still within my warranty!) I had no other choice than to restore the computer to factory conditions, which solved the problem. But now I have to redownload everything I ever had ever...
...which is what you would expect me to say, isn't it? As many times as I've had computer problems, I've learned a long time ago to save copies of everything and keep all of the setup files I use. I've got the basics running right now, and as it's bedtime, I'll fix everything else tomorrow.
