A year after we had graduated college the two of us were still together, and I found myself in the position of needing a roommate. Lacking any other options at that point aside from a complete stranger, I asked him if he was willing to room with me. He was, and we started living together as roommates (we actually did have seperate bedrooms), since he had just gone through his first round of med school applications without any luck.
Then it came time for the second round of applications a year later. By the middle to end of February 2006, he had heard back from everywhere he had applied except for two. First came word from a med school out of state, and it was an acceptance! The only one left to hear from was his first choice - the one that was local to us, our friends, and our families.
On the 28th of February, he finally got word from the first choice school, and it was not what we were hoping to hear. That night, after we got back from a movie, I noticed he was sort of stalking me around the apartment. In the living room, he told me that he was going to be heading to Nebraska for school, and then he got down on one knee and..
Sang me a song Sims 2 style! Ok, not really. Here's the LJ post I made the next day.
Last night was awesome enough on its own. I went to a free screening of Nightwatch with a bunch of people, and got bombarded with lots of goodies, including a free reversable tee shirt!
The night got better.
Last night, Mr_Co, my wonderful wonderful love, asked me to marry him, and I accepted!
The ring is beautiful and very sparkly, and I am thrilled and excited about our future together.
Nothing has been set for a date yet, but that will be forthcoming. In the meantime, I need to sleep, since I didn't really do any of that last night.
The beginning of July of 2008 was heartbreaking, since we had to pack up our belongings and move 6 hours away to our new home for at least until he graduated from med school. A year later, on 7/6/07 (that's July 7th, to all you backward date folks! :<) ) we were married in our home state.
Now, after 2 years in Nebraska, I've grown to dislike the area, but after a year of marriage, I'm still convinced that coming here with him was the right thing to do. He'll graduate in May, 2010, and at that point we're looking to move back home. Even if that isn't an option, I feel secure in our future, because I've found someone that compliments me so well.
