Agreed! My preferred method as well
I hardly watch TV, so most of the series I've seen were from DVD or download, one season at the time. Went through the first 3 seasons of the new Doctor Who, Torchwood, Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and others this way. I also do it with anime series -- I wait until I have them complete and then watch several episodes per night.
