The earliest usage cite in the Oxford English Dictionary dates from 1503 and is in the form fukkit. The earliest cite of the current spelling is from 1535.

Is this what you're referring to? If so, then it's a "usage cite" made by the dictionary. The dictionary is citing when the earliest usage of the word was. Aside from being a dictionary, the OED gives background histories to hundreds of thousands of words.
