so there's the big push to make eveyone go out and either buy a new High Definition (HD) TV or at least get a set-top box that does the automagical converting so you can watch the new HD channels...
BUT..
None of the channels are -->
a) Explaining exactly *which* type of set-top box you need to buy. Which means a lot of people are getting caught out buying a box that is for all purposes useless because they see it being cheaper and of course the salesman in the shop doesn't give a shit - he just wants the sale...
b) They are only putting the good shows on the HD. Plus, ALL of these new series will NOT be shown on the regular free-to-air channel 7, 9 or 10 it seems because of the way the law is structured (of course this has been done deliberately as we were meant to change to digital HD TV here 4 years ago but the change over from analogue is getting pushed back further and further because of the millions of TV's that people would have to replace or at least buy a set-top box for - the only people making money here are the electronic sales shops!! - they're rubbing their hands with glee!)
In the case of channel 10 this means Battlestar Galactica is *only* on HD and after showing the other 2 seasons free to air on SD, they will not be showing it on 'normal' free to air channel 10!
Now I haven't gone out and gotten a set-top box yet but I guess I'll have to at a minimum. I only replaced my TV about 2 years ago and so it's far too new to throw away and replace with a HD TV - which still cost thousands to buy of course (see 'rich electronic sales shops' mention!!) The problem is I haven't a clue which one to buy...!
