I get less loot and more cash, these days. So:
A total of $250 in cash
Several pounds of chocolate
1 pair of teardrop black earrings
1 pair of dragonfly earrings
1 beautiful five layer necklace
1 set of new make-up brushes
3 volumes of "Futurama" (I now own all four!)
1 herbal remedy sleep pillow
1 "our first Christmas" ornament
1 angel tree-topper
2 candles
1 $50 gift card to Express
1 indoor/outdoor thermometer
1 travel clock
1 mini football
1 mini electronic chess game
2 Pixar figurine sets (Toy Story 2 and Ratatouille)
From the husband:
Pixar Shorts on DVD
Doctor Who Series 1 (9th Doctor) on DVD
1 poem
1 song
Of all the gifts, that song is the most amazing to me. You see, a few months back I started taking my song-writing seriously. I've always done it off and on, but decided I wanted to really make some music and write some songs and get them out there to the world. I asked my husband to help me, and gave him the voice track to one song I really wanted to get done first.
See, I can write a melody, and I can sing, but I can't hear music. My husband, the pianist and composer, can do all that.
I figured he'd been busy, and had not had time to write the song... until last night when I opened my Christmas presents, and lastly found a poem, with sheet music underneath. I wept. Then, he played the music for me, and it was just so wonderful, and I just couldn't stop crying.
The biggest blessing this Christmas was my husband. When others seemed too swept up in presents to remember Jesus, he whipped out his Bible so the two of us could read the Christmas story together. He's a brilliant, wonderful man.
Our first Christmas together was just incredible, and I'm so glad neither of us had to work! :)
