I've had to re-ghost the laptop twice in the past 10 days because somehow I keep picking up a malware of some kind, and again about 2 months ago.
I get a "generic fault in win32.exe services...blah blah blah" message, the internet disconnects from the dialup and I can't close the dialup icon in the tray. The only way to reset stuff is to reboot the laptop altogether. It happens again and again after being connected for about 10-15 minutes.
The Edu Dept help desk doesn't help either - they're the ones that said had to re-image the machine. They say it's probably an internet dumper trying to reset stuff (they're failing because our bill is normal enough the last few months) Grisoft AVG, adaware and spybot all report nothing out of the ordinary though... *shrugs*
It's easy enough to ghost the machine but it takes me about 3 hours to reload and reinstall everything, and then reset all the photoshop settings etc... I'm goin to buy an external hard disk over the next term break next week I think...
meh, so much for my nice slack afternoon...
