There also seems to be some sort of time-out type thing goin' on, i just lost my post cause i typed it while actually working, so the page was probably open for almost an hour... And when i hit store message it just took me back to the "DUDE WE'VE MOVED!" page... damn-it... Did it again, lucky i C&P'ed it all this time...
*sigh, and tries to recall what he typed before*
Now i don't know who posted that last thing, (oh wait, it was Wiktionary (must be a new users, i wanna see Sean try Wikitionary to a proverbial root word chair:P).
But this is more what i was getting at before. Now i don't think i actually used the word root in my post *was too lazy the first time, and is now really too lazy to go check*. But if i did, i meant it in more of an "point of origin" (i.e. how the word came to be in the english language) sort of way.
From dictionary.com:
damn /d¿m/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dam] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used with object)
blah
blah
blah
[Origin: 1250–1300; ME dam(p)nen < OF dam(p)ner < L damnâre to condemn, deriv. of damnum damage, fine, harm]
And this is one of the reasons (as i said before) english is such a dumb language, cause it doesn't really have a reason for why it uses some functions, other then the origin of the word used it (which then bringing words (and functions) together from other languages, causes confusion/makes-no-damn-sense). But then i haven't really studied other languages to say if there is a better (which at a guess i would say there isn't, cause every language has to come from somewhere).
Who's going to clear away the bodies...that's what I want to know.
