Yeah. No clue why Edgar Allen Poe popped into my head, but he did.
It was a crazy first week and a half training on the job for so much stuff. Today was my first day where I essentially flew solo. It was trying, at times, and I did have to ask for assistance at times. It was just impossible for me to instinctively know everything. However, my trainer seems very confident in my abilities, and she's been incredibly encouraging.
I'm working in a newsroom, and a funny one at that. Today, one of our producers wore her sweater inside out half the day before someone pointed it out to her. One of our anchors randomly broke out into the theme from "Diffrent Strokes." The three key copies our boss made for our desk failed to work... and I ate a subway sub.
It's strange to have a full-time job, again. It's been a while. But, it's good for me, and I like the environment, and I'm sure I'll like my hours when I'm on them. Sure, there will be times when I'll wish that I could be home, earlier. But, I can always use the DVR to watch my shows online while I work. That's the beauty of being the one to encode video... You have to have access to television. Squee.
This weekend we have "Star Trek Saturday" at my place. My fiance is coming over, along with two of our friends for a Star Trek marathon. We did this last month, and it was a blast, so we decided to make it a monthly thing. I'll be glad if it actually happens. Right now, communication between all of us is difficult. But, no matter what, it warms my heart to know that Saturday will be spent with my darling. Yes, it's cheesy. I don't care.
The wedding is coming along. I got my first fitting for my custom-made gown this past week. We bought the materials. $217 for my dress.. She's not charging us for labor since she's a friend of my mom's. Yeah. That's incredible for a custom wedding gown. It'll be fit to my body and my preferences, and it'll look incredible. I'm so amazed at what the Lord has done in preparation for my wedding.
Mom bought four lightsabers (the good kind) for my wedding, today. Can't wait for that. :) I'm going to have the craziest wedding ever.
