But celcius makes a reasonable amount of sense - 0 is where water freezes (at sea level) and 100 is where it boils (at same) - in the grand annuls of science it's a little less logical than kelvin of course, but for every day use (and of course it predates the scientific understanding of absolute zero iirc) it's an applicable, understandable scale.
I vaguely recall that fahrenheit set zero at the coldest temperature at that time that man could make? Something like that. Presumably this was done in parts of Europe where winters don't drop into negative fahrenheit ;0)
