And given that York was blowing a gale my hat most certainly did not stay on ;0) I carried it most of the day, because it was seriously windy. The people coming out of the morning ceremony were getting really buffetted (and the space in front of the Minster, in which the ceremony took place, is very open) but thankfully the wind had mostly died down by the time ours came out. That said, our TFTV hat throwing party was still a bit aided by the wind ;0)
Incidentally, graduating in York Minster is the most awesome thing evah. Oh, and I didn't have too much trouble with my hood. It hooked onto the button on my shirt, although to my annoyance the woman who primped me before I went up on stage moved it to the second button, where it didn't sit so well. Some people had real trouble keeping it on their shoulders. I suppose that my button was just at an ideal height, and I have reasonably broad shoulders too.
