they're not actually... if you look closely you'll see that they go from the foreground light colour to whatever colour the background is and are also slightly see-through as you can see the texture of the background water through them. Up near his head is more solid though because he has to have some sort of 'form' and shape to be alive. he's just made out of water... wierd yeah but then it's not my character or comic book...
