Sorry, should've replied earlier. Somehow, I'm not online that much anymore. Or well, I mean, at the places that matter.
|
I remember when this was just being talked about as a possibility.
Eee. I bet you have a terrific time. Any stories to tell us?

Well, I suppose I'd just as well provide the url of the weblog. Even though it's in Dutch, I'm sure the photos here and there can be viewed by people from other nationalities, too. ;-)
Oh, the addy thingie: http://lbbontour.blogspot.com/
here's a page from a concert hall in Shanghai we did a concert in:
http://www.culture.sh.cn/English/product.asp?id=2769
oh and the English version of our band's website, in case anyone's interested:
http://www.lighttownbigband.nl/en/index.htm
There doesn't seem to be a specific page in English there about the China trip, only in the Dutch part. Oh and, as the site's also translated into Chinese, you might get a question if you want to install some Chinese language pack thingie. Feel free to accept or ignore that, it's up to you.
One of the funniest things must've been the time we went to visit a "small village", supposedly to see a bit of the countryside and not just be in the big cities. Turned out that the place we went to is a city with....oh.....hmmmm.....about 5,2 milion people. *cough!*
We had been picked up at our hotel and raced to the local mayor, sirens and all. Oh and police at every crossing and roundabout thingie to block any traffic, so we could pass through.
And a race it was, since we had to be back in time again later for our concert. They had planned some sightseeing things there, but we really had to rush through them. For example, we visited some hospital and were greated by some very happy doctor like person....but I wouldn't be surprised if we've been there much more than 15 or 20 minutes. :-P
Oh and the food/lunch must've been one of the most luxurious ones we've had there. Again, a quick rush, then upstairs for the mayor's speech and blabla and then back again for a FOUR hour drive to the concert hall thingie at 140 km/hour.
I think we've seen more village people (no, not the ymca ones! ;-)) from a distance in the cars while racing back. Mmmmm, faaaarming! :-P
Oh and ofcourse there was the time when I went for a walk with our conductor and a few others. Turned out to be a day's worth of walking and eating and stuff. Oh and, heehee, at some point we were whistling the theme from "bridge of river kwai" while we walked/climbed down some hill thingie. The few Chinese people we passed then must've looked pretty blank. :-P
*cough* errr, so much for a random pick from what I've been up to there. :-P

(This will explain why I've not been able to catch you on M$N when I've wanted to this last week or so ;0)

Sorry, I don't think I've been on msn a lot at all for the past months. Gaim on my laptop is a bit narfed. I think I "updated" it a while ago, but it didn't really help. I should take a look at it. Using another computer here now to type this message. Used this to help build a website for one of our band members. He's coming round again later, so we can finish it. When that's done, I want to turn the computer into a server thingie.
It's not a very new/fast computer, but good enough for me right now to do some server related pokings with.
There are FOUR brain cells!
